At LVSC we strive to understand the scientific issues associated with problem gambling and stand ready to assist guests who self identify and ask for help.
Prevention, intervention, and treatment programs, despite best intentions, can unintentionally stimulate adverse consequences. These programs need to be studied to discover if they produce positive, neutral, or negative results. Anecdote and assumption are no substitution for sound research. While we at LVSC have made a strong commitment to responsible gaming programs, we feel rigorous evaluation of these programs is critical to ensuring effectiveness.
By studying our responsible gaming programs and their outcomes, LVSC will learn their efficacy, and how specific program components influence specific populations. This learning will be a significant step in our industry-leading commitment to evidence-based responsible gaming practices.
While there is much we don't know about problem gambling, we are learning more every day.
